The oil drain plug and filter on the Hondas 650 Deauville can be tricky to find as, although they are located near to where most bikes have the drain plug and filter located on the Deauville the set up is a little bit different.
Note – The filter and drain bolt locations should be the same for all NT650V Deauville models (1998 to 2005).

Oil drain bolt and filter location shown with the fairings on and off the bike.
Both the drain plug and filter are accessed from the bottom/left side of the bike (obviously, that’s the bottom/left of the engine!).

The oil drain bolt is located on the lower/left side of the engine, just under the water pump pipe joint (where the water pump goes from the silver casing to the black pipe).
Note – The oil drain bolt is a 17mm bolt and should be tightened to 29nm when putting it back.

The oil filter is located on the bottom/back of the engine
The oil filter can be accessed from the bottom/left side of the bike and is located on the back of the engine, directly behind the water pump.
Note – The oil filter should be tightened to 10nm. If you don’t have a suitable torque wrench, as a rough guide, the filter should be tightened with a wrench a QUARTER TURN past finger tight (and remember to rub some oil on the filter rubber sealing gasket before installing).

The oil filter for the 1998 to 2005 Honda 650 Deauville is a Hiflo HF303 filter .
The Hiflo HF303 filter is the same as the filters below:
- Filtrex OIF006
- Champion F301, F306, F304
- Vesrah SF-4005
- K and N KN-303
- Honda 15410-MM9-013

10w40 motorcycle oil is recommended for the 650 Deauville.
You will need 2.6 litres of engine oil for an oil and filter change (or 2.4 litres if just changing the oil and 3 litres after a complete engine strip/rebuild)
